1920-23 Breuer absolviert eine Ausbildung in der Tischlerei des Bauhauses in Weimar.
Es entstehen zahlreiche Entwürfe aus Holz, darunter sein „ Afrikanischer Stuhl “ ( 1921 ), Möbel für das Haus Sommerfeld ( 1921 ) und der Holzlattenstuhl ( ab 1922 ). 1923 Breuer ist mit einigen Möbeln, darunter seinem Gesellenstück, einem Toilettentisch, an der Bauhaus-Ausstellung im Weimarer „ Haus am Horn “ vertreten.
Zusammen mit Farkas Molnár und Georg Muche gründet Breuer eine Initiative zur Gründung einer „ Architekturabteilung “, erste Architekturentwürfe folgen.

He produces numerous designs in wood, including his African Chair ( 1921 ), furniture for the Sommerfeld House ( 1921 ) and the Slatted Chair ( from 1922 ). 1923 Breuer is represented with several furniture designs in the Bauhaus ‘ Haus am Horn ’ exhibition in Weimar including his journeyman project, a dressing table.
Together with Farkas Molnár and Georg Muche, Breuer initiates the establishment of an architectural department at the Bauhaus and subsequently produces his first architectural designs.
