Da sich die Elektronen sehr schnell bewegen, kann man ihre Bewegungen mit Hilfe von ultrakurzen starken Laserpulsen im Labor im Attosekundenbereich beobachten [ eine Attosekunde ist der trillionste Teil einer Sekunde ].
Für die Zukunft wäre die Beobachtung der Elektronenbewegungen in chemischen Reaktionen interessant.
