Child of Cassis, a popular peripheral neighbourhood of Port-Louis, the capital of Mauritius, Menwar started his musical career as a singer in the Chœurs Vaillants, a branch of the Boy Scouts.
Since then, he has never stopped singing, spending his life defending the sega, a musical style with swaying rhythms, the musical heritage of the Mascarene Islands and he has managed to popularise it beyond the Indian Ocean.
