Nach 10-jährigem politischen Kampf konnte das lokale Stromnetz von den Elektrizitätswerken Schönau ( EWS ) übernommen werden, die heute bundesweit Ökostrom liefern.
Der Film erzählt die unglaubliche Geschichte der Schönauer Stromrebellen – von der Gründung der Initiative über die massiven Widerstände von Seiten des regionalen Strommonopolisten und aus Teilen der Bevölkerung bis zum 10. Jahrestag der Stromnetzübernahme durch die EWS in 2007.
