Approaches such as upsizing ( i.e. transformation of raw materials that are not utilized in the production process into products that yield high value added ) or integrated Bio Systems ( utilization of biogenic waste and emissions for the production of fertilizer, animal feed, etc. ) also aim towards zero emissions processes.
The strategy of an ecological industry designs industrial production on the model of natural eco-systems and develops concepts for the creation of “ Eco-Industrial Parks ” where waste from one line of production is used as a valuable raw material in other processes .
