Geschichtliches
Anfänge der Geotechnik an unserer Hochschule entstanden bereits 1924 am Institut für Mechanik, Baukunde und Materialprüfung unter Leitung von Professor Kögler mit der Gründung des Erdbaulaboratoriums Freiberg.
Professor Kögler war Bauingenieur.

The first steps in the fields of geotechnics have already started in 1924 with the establishment of the earthwork-laboratory in Freiberg at the Institute of Mechanics, Civil Engineering and Material Testing under the care of Professor Kögler.
Professor Kögler was a civil engineer, thus the orientation of the institute referred to civil engineering.
