Die Skulpturen sind Leihgaben der Sammlung Eduard von der Heydt des Museums Rietberg Zürich und privater Leihgeber , entstammen aber auch dem vom Museumsgründer Adolf Fischer angelegten Bestand des Kölner Museums .
Es ist weltweit das erste Mal, dass die monumentalen Abreibungen aus der Provinz Shandong zusammen mit Steinskulpturen in einer Ausstellung präsentiert werden.

Ein besonderes Herzstück der Sammlung bilden die Architekturmodelle von Otto Wagner, Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe und Alvar Aaalto.

Among the 50,000 plans , sketches and models in the Architecture Collection are bundles of manuscripts and materials from the estates of Francesco Borromini , Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach , Adolf Loos and Lois Welzenbacher , and many other important architects .
The collection also features architectural models by Otto Wagner, Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe and Alvar Aaalto.
