At the Forschungszentrum Jülich ’s Institute of Energy and Climate Research, scientists investigate the chemistry and physics of the atmosphere, particularly in the stratosphere and the troposphere.
We analyse the chemistry and dynamics of anthropogenic and natural trace gases such as water vapour, hydroxyls and carbon dioxide with the help of measuring instruments on the ground and in the air or by satellite remote sensing.
A centrepiece of the research is data acquisition by means of highly specialised equipment that is used, for example, as part of the PEGASOS project in a zeppelin or in the HALO research aircraft.
