Originally used as town hall, the Deutsche Goldschmiedehaus owes ist present function to the Berlin jeweller and goldsmith Ferdinand Richard Wilm ( 1880-1971 ).
Already in 1932 Wilm had supported the foundation of the »Deutsche Gesellschaft für Goldschmiedekunst« in Berlin for the crafts of goldsmiths and silversmith.
