Ambadan was offered a job at DWD as a scientist and he began working in DWD headquarters in Offenbach in early 2012 , thus long before completing his doctoral research at IMPRS-ESM .

With this model, the DWD calculates the expansion of ash clouds – and thus their impact on aviation – over a period of 72 hours.
