Supervenience therefore describes a functional dependence: there can be no change in the mental without some change in the physicalcausal reducibility between the mental and physical without ontological reducibility.
Perhaps some further axiom, less objectionable than the axiom of reducibility, might give these results, but we have not succeeded in finding such an axiom.
