The Provincia is the political unit that comes between the Comune and the Regione . There are 110 provinces in Italy, each one containing several comuni . The Provincia has responsibility for public health care, highway maintenance and public buildings such as schools, as well as for agriculture and fisheries. Each provincia has a capoluogo , a capital, and is governed by a Giunta provinciale (provincial government) whose members are chosen from the Consiglio provinciale (provincial council).
